Forest Bathing, or shinrin-yoku, is the deliberate practice of immersion in nature using mindfulness and the senses. This practice originated in Japan and allows the body, mind and spirit to relax and rejuvenate surrounded by the healing powers of nature. This introductory class begins by discussing the guiding principles of shinrin-yoku that enable us to soak up the natural world around us; then each learner will enjoy individual time practicing their Forest Bathing in our tranquil Japanese Garden before reconvening to share experiences. Registration includes Garden admission for the day—we encourage you to explore the Garden before and after class!
